CHELSEA SUGAR REFINERY
New Zealand Sugar Company Limited is a long-established business and landmark in Birkenhead, New Zealand, located on the northern shore of Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour and aid in the distribution of 200,000 tonnes of sugar a year.
The Auckland Harbour bridge opening also meant that Auckland’s North Shore was now a convenient place to live, so Chelsea Sugar sold more than 100 hectares of land for subdivision. This is the suburb now known as Chatswood and includes the Chelsea Sugar Refinery.
Throughout its history, Chelsea has allowed the public open access to its significant grounds, which comprise wetlands, lakes, open space, and bush.
KENDALLS BAY
Kauri Point Centennial Park is dotted with trees and pristine walking tracks, which will lead you to shelly, sandy Kendall Bay. Great safe spot for a dip before continuing on the track for some great harbour views.

Transport is Key
Gloria Terraces is located close to SH16, and only 15min to the city (off-Peak). Bus links direct to Britomart are available from Te Atatū Road. Auckland Transport (AT) has recently completed an improvement project to boost the efficiency and safety of the Te Atatū Corridor. It is also possible to cycle from Te Atatū Peninsula into the city on dedicated cycleways.
